Rare and fine Kachan carpet (PERSEAN), end of the 19th centu - Lot 82
Rare and fine Kachan carpet (PERSEAN), end of the 19th century, woven in the workshops of the master weaver MORTACHEM. Technical characteristics:Lambswool velvet, silky quality on a cotton foundation, density approx. 9500 knots per dm2. Natural wear and oxidation. A brick field supports an oblong ivory counter-field with braces, itself hosting a polylobé marine, brick, sky and ivory floral medallion and its pendants. The ensemble is surrounded by four small spandrels and is entirely covered with delicate floral foliage. The magnificent main marine border with brick brackets is adorned with vases with flower stems. polychrome and small stylized cypresses. Three ivory and brick plant counter-edges, flanked by chess pawns complete the frame. Nice example.
