BOTTIN MONDAIN enamelled plate forming barometer and thermom - Lot 44
BOTTIN MONDAIN enamelled plate forming barometer and thermometer. Very beautiful pink decoration on almond background, representing the Feuillets de la Renommée, after the work of Aimé Octobre (1868-1943). Cooperative enamelling, 34 bd de Clichy. Three fixing holes. Small splinters in the margin, and at the upper hole, restorations, barometer and tube added. Ht.: 55.50 cm Note: at the crossroads of rue de l'Université and rue Sébastien Bottin you can admire the work of the sculptor Aimé Octobre, author of the bas-relief surrounding the clock in the Didot-Bottin building. The allegory that brings together, the caduceus, La Renommée and the numerous cascading leaves symbolizes the Almanach du Commerce by Sébastien Bottin, a work that contained, among other things, the addresses of Parisian businesses. The Bottin mondain was created in 1903.
