BANQUE DE FRANCE. - Recueil des pièces relatives... - Lot 10 - Rossini
BANQUE DE FRANCE. - Recueil des pièces relatives au régime de la Banque de France. Paris, De l'Imprimerie de P. Didot l'aîné, 1804. In-4, long-grained green half-maroquin with round corners, ornate spine, red title page, middle of nerves mosaiced in red, untrimmed (modern pastiche binding). First edition of this important work on the founding of the Banque de France, published four years after the institution was created by Bonaparte. It contains the primitive Statuts of the Banque de France, dated 24 pluviôse an VIII (February 13, 1800), its internal regulations, the list of its 200 shareholders, and the law establishing the institution as the sole bank in Paris. Bound in the following pages: ASSEMBLÉE-GÉNÉRALE des actionnaires de la Banque de France, du XXV Vendémiaire an XIII. S.l.n.n. [at the end]: De l'Imprimerie de la Banque de France, s.d. Minutes of this general meeting held on 25 Vendémiaire An XIII (October 17, 1804), with a speech by the President of the Banque de France, Jean-Frédéric Perregaux, the censors' report delivered by Martin Puech, and the by-law of the general meeting of shareholders. The collation of this document differs from the one digitized on the Gallica website (one false-title leaf and 21 pages instead of 38). A very fine copy, impeccably bound in the taste of the period. The boards of the first binding have been used, and the original title-piece has been retained in the volume.
