Alexandre-Jean de CREVECŒUR de BAUSSY, officer and literary - Lot 102
Alexandre-Jean de CREVECŒUR de BAUSSY, officer and literary man. L.A.S., Paris August 14, 1790, to a colleague; 4 pages small in-4. "The general state of the kingdom is so critical that I dare not go into details [...] if we avoid bankruptcy and civil war, at least we will not avoid the anarchy, and since this beautiful federative pact, the insurrection, the violence and the plunder have increased in all the regions of the kingdom, the colonies are not happier, and the latest news from St Domingue and Martinique especially, are most disastrous. He is about to obtain satisfaction and damages in his case and prepares a request to the National Assembly, hoping that he will be "reintegrated into my military consideration. He adds: "Mr. Barnave and Mr. Cazales deputies fought with pistols, the last one was wounded but not fatally".
