HERVIEU Jacques - (1933-2010), Drawing Ancient head, probably Marcus Junius Brutus or Emperor Augustus Academic drawing in black-and-white pencil on Ingres Ecoles watermarked laid paper Signed and dated 1947–48 in the drawing at the bottom Annotation “Jacques Hervieu 3ème bleue” in the upper right corner Sun damage, foxing Dimensions: 31.5 x 24 cm Jacques Hervieu was a Norman author originally from Périers, in the Manche department. He was actively involved in local life and went on to become a judge and later president of the Coutances Commercial Court. Self-taught and passionate about the history of his region, he left behind several writings and accounts related to Normandy and World War II. His book *“It Was During the Exodus: Normandy, Summer 1944,”* published posthumously in 2024, recounts the exodus his family experienced during the Allied landings.
