He was actively involved in local life and went on to become a judge and later president of the Coutances Commercial Court. Self-taught and passionate about the history of his region, he left behind several writings and accounts related to Normandy and World War II. His book *“It Was During the Exodus: Normandy, Summer 1944”*, published posthumously in 2024, recounts the exodus his family experienced during the Allied landings.
