Model 1855 infantry officer's saber. Bronze mounting, chased crown cap, fillet joint arch, flower-decorated openwork top, drop-shaped quillon. Horn spindle, watermark missing. Slightly curved blade with groove and gutter marked "Mre Nle de Chatelr mars 1871 o. d'Inft M 1845". Scabbard stamped with an iron strap and hanger ring. Oxidation, as is. Overall length: 91 cm. France, Third Republic period. The production date of this saber corresponds to the period of the Paris Commune.
