French school, 18th century The recording of donations during the canonization of 1690, verso, study of the head of Amur Sanguine 410 x 560 mm. Curved form at top Accident Provenance: Jacques Villers sale, Rouen, December 17, 1970 ; Paul and Florence Vercier Collection (L. 3607), n°292. Bibliography: Le dessin [XVIe - XXe siècle] à travers une collection havraise, 1987, n°51. This drawing reproduces a detail from the bas-relief of Pope Alexander VIII's tomb, created in marble around 1702/1704 by Angelo de Rossi from a design by Arrigo Di San Martino, 1702-1704, and now in St. Peter's Basilica, Rome. A drawing by Bouchardon of the same subject is in the Musée du Louvre, Paris (INV 23912). An attribution to Anicet Charles Gabriel LE MONNIER has been proposed for this drawing.
