Josaphat TORTAT (1843-1915) - BLOIS - 1879 An important set of three polychrome earthenware pieces offered on the occasion of a wedding. It is composed of an oval quadripod jardinière and two vases on pedestals, the handles in the form of snakes; the decoration of foliage and grotesques in the Renaissance taste. Each vase bears a cartouche with the initials of the bride and groom "AC" and "LB", the jardinière the letters of union "CB" and the date July 23, 1879. Marks under the pieces J. Tortat Blois, the jardiniere also bears the monogram AWN for Withold Arthur Just (decorative painter and collaborator of Josaphat Tortat). Planter: 42 x 26 x 20 cm Vases: 27 x 38 cm
