Jean-Lambert TALLIEN (1767-1820) Conventionnel (Seine-et-Ois - Lot 116
Jean-Lambert TALLIEN (1767-1820) Conventionnel (Seine-et-Oise), Montagnard, one of the architects of the Neuf-Thermidor. L.S., Tours April 14, 1793, to fellow citizens; 3 pages and a quarter in-fol. Commissioner and deputy of the National Convention in the Indre et Loire and Loir et Cher departments, he points out that his last circular letters contained two serious printing errors: "it would be very easy for malicious people to argue for false printed matter"; this must not happen again... He mentions recruitment difficulties: "The main cause of the delay in recruitment operations [...] comes from the unrest in the Vendée, Deux-Sèvres and Mayenne et Loire regions, to whose aid all citizens have flocked with the greatest eagerness"; but they have taken their clothes and weapons with them, which prevents them from being requisitioned. He had written to Minister Beurnonville a long time ago, asking for arms, but nothing having arrived, he renewed his request yesterday to Bouchotte. We need to get him the authorization he requested. "Goupilleau is at the head of the colonies of our brave volunteers, and every day they gain new advantages against the Rebels. Soon they will be annihilated... The unsworn priests will be sent the next day to Bordeaux, and from there to French Guiana; but he does not know what to do with the 300 nuns "confined here [...] It is generally thought that those who refuse to take the oath will be deported"... 9785/650
