Jean-Adam PFLIEGER (1744-1801) Conventionnel (Haut-Rhin). L.A.S., Paris, January 17, 1791; 3 pages in-4. "The state of Mülhausen requests to be aggregated to the commerce of France, as well as to be treated as a good neighbor as cydevant"; he wonders if neighboring communities can buy land in the territory of Mülhausen and under what conditions, and asks to order payment for work done on the courtroom of the Tribunal de Justice. "The King is expecting a letter from Rome tomorrow, which should bring the good news that the Pope is confirming all that has been done for the civil constitution of the clergy [...] This will reassure timorous consciences and dismay the wicked, who have sought to trouble the Kingdom by their resistance". He adds in a postscript that rumors are circulating "that several parishes will be reunited, and that useless churches and the ornaments of those that have been abolished will be sold"... On the last page, a draft reply from the administrators. ex 9785/442
