Louis-Antoine de SAINT-JUST (1767-1794). P.S., co-signed by BILLAUD-VARENNE and COLLOT D'HERBOIS, 30 messidor II (July 18, 1794); 1 1/2 in-fol. pages, vignette and letterhead of the Comité de Salut public. Extract from the decrees of the Comité de Salut Public, ten days before his execution. "The Comité de Salut Public decrees that classified seafarers who happen to be employed, under any name whatsoever, in the armies of the Eastern Pyrenees and Italy, and for other services or functions in the district of Port de la Montagne [Toulon], will be withdrawn and immediately embarked on board vessels and other vessels of the Republic in armament at Port de la Montagne. The volunteers of the first requisition in the said armies, as well as those in the same district as above, who prefer sea service, will be withdrawn and sent to Port la Montagne to be embarked on the vessels of the Republic"... Attached is a fragment bearing the signatures of Carnot and Saint-Just, with Saint-Just's autograph apostille: "il faut prendre des renseignemens sur ce commandt". Plus a manuscript found in Saint-Just's paper, Des Institutions et de l'Éducation (cahier in-4 de 6 ff.).
