Abbé Henri GRÉGOIRE (1750-1831). L.A.S., Paris February 14, - Lot 45
Abbé Henri GRÉGOIRE (1750-1831). L.A.S., Paris February 14, 1825, to M. Dupuy, former professor at the École des arts et métiers in Chalons sur Marne; 1 1/2 pages in-4, addressed. He recommends a young pupil to him: "Your advice based on religion, virtue, science and experience is a favor he should receive with respect". As for the two of them: "You're getting old and I'm old; you're on your way to the age I've reached through storms, especially since 1814 - outrages, slanders, injustices and fury have been directed against me. God be praised, I find in my heart only the desire to do good to those who have done me harm, and I always eagerly seize the opportunity to do so"... A small, torn autograph fragment, with press clippings, is enclosed.
