CHRISTOFLE for the TABLE SERVICE of EMPEROR NAPOLEON III. Rare circular bowl in silver-plated metal, the neck emphasized by a molding decoration. The body engraved with the Empire coat of arms. Numbered 121101 and marked 62 Napoleon III period, 1853-1868. Goldsmith's hallmark: CC different scale and CHRISTOFLE mark. H. 6.6 cm - Diam.: 22 cm. Scratches, partially desilvered underneath and bumps. In 1851, Emperor Napoleon III commissioned Charles Christofle (1805-1863) to produce official Empire dinner services. His titles of King's Goldsmith and Emperor's Supplier enabled the now-famous firm to be solicited by foreign sovereigns such as the Emperor of Mexico and the Tsar of Russia.
