Rectangular snuffbox in 18K (750) gold and enamel Switzerland, circa 1820 Decorated with blue enamel diamond-shaped fillets and partially white-enameled fleurons; the frames with gold foliage and quatrefoils in a circle on a white enamel ground; the rounded corners chased with a cassolette, the lid adorned with a polychrome miniature depicting three figures on a boat in a lakeside landscape with a church and bridge in the distance. The base features a central oval medallion on a black enamel background with an anchor and laurel sprig, surmounted by the inscription "ESPERANCE". Incomplete goldsmith's mark, G(R?)G, possibly Gide, Rémond et Guidon. Title stamp "eagle head" (twice). Height: 1.5 cm - Length: 9 cm - Width: 5.5 cm - Gross weight: 115.97 g. (accidents, missing parts and restorations)
