Painted and patinated molded wood frame. Iron mark on the back: "B. Natanson 174 F° SAINT HONORE". Circa 1940 H. 73.5 - W. 92.8 - D. 7.5 cm Damage and missing parts In 1930, Bolette Natanson (1892 - 1936) opened "Les Cadres", a boutique at 174 Faubourg Saint-Honoré, with her partner, decorator Jean-Charles Moreux (1889-1956). A friend of Colette and Jean Cocteau, the latter wrote the introductory text for her first catalog. She framed works by major modernist artists such as Vuillard, Braque and Picasso, and collaborated with Galerie Bernheim on an exhibition devoted to Max Ernst in 1928. The list of her customers demonstrates the framer's importance on the Parisian scene: Baron Robert de Rothschild, Princess Polignac, Dunoyer de Segonzac, couturier Raphaël, Charles de Noailles...
