Gilt bronze "Serpent" clock featuring a square stele with st - Lot 356
Gilt bronze "Serpent" clock featuring a square stele with straight fluted uprights framing a porcelain medallion adorned with a bouquet of roses on the front, and blued-background medallions adorned with a bronze sprig of roses on the sides. It supports a cassolette decorated with foliage and Bacchus heads, with two annular dials on the body, one with Roman numerals for the hours and the other with Arabic numerals for the minutes. A snake wrapping around the foot and climbing up the vase marks the time with its tongue. Second Empire period. H. 38.5cm - W. 17cm - D. 17 cm. Apocryphal Sèvres factory mark of 1793.
