MIRABEAU (Honoré-Gabriel Riquetti, comte de). Estates-General. Prospectus. N°I and II. Paris, Le Jay, and Versailles, Blaizot, s.d. [1789]. Set of 3 pieces in a small in-4 volume, 2 and 8 pages, bradel half red morocco, gilt Phrygian cap at head and tail (Modern binding). Tourneux, n°10203. - Sgard, n°412. All that appeared of this short-lived journal written by Mirabeau, i.e. the first two issues and the prospectus. The two published issues contain critical reflections on the presentation of the deputies to the King on May 2, on the opening of the Estates-General and on Necker's speech on May 5. The prospectus appeared in April, and the journal was condemned and banned by decree of the Council, and the bookseller had to return the subscriptions. The blank leaf of the prospectus, bearing the name of a subscriber at the time, a lawyer at the Conseil, has been preserved.
