Two wedding medals of François V Duke of Modena and Aldegonde of Bavaria, bronze with brown patina, smooth, unweathered edges. Original case (missing fasteners). Obverse: FRANCISCO ATEST ARCHID AVSTR DVCI MVTIN DESTINATO ET ADELGVNDA BAVARICA FAVSTO CONNUBIO IVNCTIS XXXMART A. MDCCXXXXII Bust portrait of the bride and groom and VIDEAS FILIOSFILIORVM TVORUMFACEM SVPER ISRAEL surrounded by laurels and monogram AMF. Reverse: antique wedding allegory and Greek inscription. Diameter : 13.20cm. Weight : 485g. Francis V of Habsburg (1819-1875) was the last sovereign of the Duchy of Modena from 1846 until the Italian annexation in 1859.
