Pierre-Michel CHÂLES (1753-1826) conventional (Eure-et-Loir). L.A.S. co-signed by Armand Guffroy, April 11, 1793, to Citizen Henry, liquidator of the Civil List; 2 pages small in-4. He intervenes in the name of the "workers and suppliers of Rambouillet", to make them give without delay the receipts which they ask for: "Must we, in such a critical moment, multiply the discontentments and the complaints, especially towards the laborious citizens, for whom we fight? Another L.A.S. (co-signed by Guffroy), March 15, 1793; plus a P.S. by Le Tourneur, Extract from the Registres des Délibérations du Directoire Exécutif of 26 ventôse IV (16 March 1796), on the arrest of Châles: "The Executive Directory [...] decides that Citizen Châles, ex deputy to the National Convention, [...] accused of being the author of the counter-revolutionary newspaper entitled L'Éclaireur and other writings also detrimental to the General Safety of the Republic will be placed under arrest and that seals will be affixed to his papers"...; and a L.S. from Merlin de Douai, Minister of Police, 28 ventôse IV (18 March 1796), concerning the arrest of Châles....
