CHINA, Nanjing - About 1900 Pair of large baluster vases with slightly flared necks in polychrome enamelled porcelain on a crackled ground with relief decoration of five animals and fantastic animals on each, including qilin, dog, lion, winged deer, the handles in the form of peach branches. On the reverse side, the apocryphal mark of Chenghua (Accidents and restorations). H. 61 cm Provenance: Collection of a former French ambassador and great traveler, having been posted in many countries (Asia, Far East, Africa, ..) at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
