Pair of observation binoculars (probably marine or military) in their original mahogany box (slot). Brass plaque on the top of the box indicating "Ebstein Kalfa Marcel André Racal - Prize offered in the name of the President of the Republic". Label on the inside mentioning the manufacturer: " A. Hurlimann - Ponthus & Therrode Successors - Manufacturers of Precision Instruments ". Paris circa 1900. Dimensions : 7 cm x 30.5 cm x 18 cm Note: House "A. Hurlimann " was founded in 1845 by Schwartz dit Lenoir and Lorieux, both pupils of Gambey. Its successive owners were: E. Lorieux, A. Hurlimann and in 1896 M. Ponthus and Therrode, then Ponthus and finally Lepetit.
