Asymmetry, China, 19th century Folded fan with asymmetrical composition, double leaf in cream silk embroidered in color on both sides. On one side, a bird feeding its young. On the other, a squirrel among grapes, a symbol of fertility. Sandalwood frame, pierced and engraved with bamboo. The plumes are carved with figures in gardens. Metal hanger and passementerie tassel. H.t. 33.5 cm (accident to two strands, wear)
