SAMARKANDE carpet (Central Asia), end of the 19th century Dimensions : 380 x 195cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation. A charcoal field supports a hexagonal, crenellated, chestnut counter-field, itself serving as a support for a crenellated, lozenge-shaped, cruciform, cream medallion, with a vegetalized heart and their pendants. The whole being covered with a sowing of polychrome flowers. Four stylized spandrels, ivory and brick serrated. The three main borders, brick, cream and chestnut are garlands of multicolored flowers. Exterior with two counter borders, chestnut and ivory, with stylized vegetal and geometric decorations.
