Louis-Léon-Félicité Brancas, duke of LAURAGUAIS (1733-1824) - Lot 56
Louis-Léon-Félicité Brancas, duke of LAURAGUAIS (1733-1824) chemist, philosopher and playwright. Autograph manuscript, Lettre amicale à Monsieur Néker, [May ? 1789]; notebook of 35 pages folio. Beautiful praise of Necker, and political reflections, notably about the inequality of representation among the provinces in the States General, and about the finances of France. He begins thus: "My friend, I received the report which you have just made to the Council and which made you win; I read it and reread it with transport. What an eloquence! What reason! [...] with what ease with your genius you are going to make of this gothic monarchy the most superb of all the ancient and modern republics "...
