Joseph SERVAN (1741-1808) general, minister of war. L.A.S., [1794], "to the Citizens representans members of the Committee of Public Safety"; 2 pages in-fol. Proposals to bring the Revolution to the countryside. Servan recalls his work Idées à répandre parmi les habitans de la campagne et les propriétaires fonciers (Ideas to be spread among the inhabitants of the countryside and the landowners), and proposes to form "a committee of agrarian instruction, for the men of the countryside", to print a translation of the best foreign works on agriculture, to send instructions and models of instruments; to form in each chief town of the department a society of agriculture; to distribute seeds according to the different climates, etc. He signed: "Joseph Servan, one of the members of the Society of Amateurs of Agriculture, Arts and Commerce".
