Fishermen, circa 1720-1740 Amazing folded fan, the double sheet of skin painted in brown and grey monochrome of a man holding a fishing rod, catching the spectator's eye. He is wearing a robe of a religious order, perhaps Franciscan. Around him, three young children are wearing the same religious garment. They are all fishing, one for crayfish, the other with a net and the third by raking the sand. A delicate purple border with a bait, crayfish, a hook and a dolphin. Reverse side showing animals monkeying men. A dog and an owl form a couple under the gaze of a cat. Very fine ivory frame*. Striped plumes. H.t. 26.5 cm-H.F. 13.5 cm (accidents, restorations) Provenance: former collection of Michel Maignan. Gross weight : 37.2 g.
