This trophy was awarded on the occasion of an automobile race organized in 1902 by the Ministry of Agriculture to promote the use of a national product as fuel, wine, to the detriment of gasoline, an imported product. The race was won by Marcellin sur Darracq against 14 competitors, including Louis Renault, founder of the Renault empire.
